At the core of the M2XH power and control cable is a copper conductor. Typically, it is made from Class 2 stranded copper. Its insulation is made from cross-linked polyethylene, which makes the cable very efficient at deflecting heat and has good chemical resistance. The outer sheath of the M2XH cable is made from a LSOH, a low smoke and zero halogen, compound.
The materials that make up the M2XH cable gives it a very distinct set of characteristics. They are very resistant to heat, moisture and oil due to their thermoplastic polyolefin based outer sheath. M2XH cables are extremely flame retardant. Even when they are in direct contact with fire, the cable can still delay the effects of the fire and maintain the its own functionality and that of the appliance for more than an hour.
It is also low smoke and halogen free. When caught in a fire, M2XH cables release very little smoke and don’t release any halogen at all. It burns extremely slowly due to its flame retardant properties. Therefore, M2XH cables minimise destruction and potential harm to man and machine during a fire.
M2XH cables can be used in various electromechanical and electronic equipment of marine vehicles. In Singapore and around the world, M2XH cables are used for onboard or navy applications, for fixed and permanent installations.
They can be used for marine applications due to their low smoke and zero halogen insulation, as it minimises any potential damage if a fire occurs on board the ship. No corrosive gasses or thick smoke will be released during a fire, leading to less potential harm and damage.
The M2XH cable’s resistance to all conditions met at sea also allows it to be used on ships. It’s usable in dry, wet, and even oily conditions. However, this power and control cable is not suitable to stay in constant contact with water.
