CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables are used predominantly for power stations and for switchgear installations. It can also be used in stations due to its small bending radius and lightweight characteristics, which makes installing CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables very easy. It is also commonly installed underground as its lightweight properties make a troublesome installation much easier.
There are several aspects of CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables that make it unique and distinguishable among cables. First, due to the high chlorine levels in its PVC sheath, CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables are flame retardant. They are also halogen free, which allows them to be used confidently without fear of catching fire or releasing smoke. CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables are also resistant to heat, oil and U.V interference due to the protection offered by its PVC sheath. Furthermore, CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables are also anti-termite and anti-rodent, which makes them very versatile for a wide range of applications.
CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables also feature a copper tape screen. The copper tape screen works to limit the electromagnetic fields of each individual cable. This prevents, or at least minimises, a cable from affecting other cables or electric equipment nearby. This prevents any potential mishaps and allows CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables to be used in conduits and in close proximity to other sensitive cables.
As such, CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables are often used as power distribution cables in Singapore. Their PVC sheath also means that cables are designed in such a way as to not spread fire, which previous cables have often been guilty of. CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC cables are often used in both domestic and commercial areas, as MV cables are very safe to use while also being very convenient to install.
